Dentsu Aegis Network and Woolworths collaborate in positively impacting the community
In 2015 DAN SSA realised that many schools in our area are in dire need of support. We identified Dryden Street Primary School and since then have embarked on a refurbishment mission with the help of Woolworths Financial Services.
Dryden Street Primary School, only a few minutes walk from DAN’s Cape Town offices is a school with a big heart. It’s teachers work tirelessly to give the the support and care that many of it’s students don’t receive at home. But the school has fallen on tough times and receive very little, if any, support or help.
As a network, we decided it was time to lend a helping hand. Carat began talks with one of their clients, Woolworths Financial Services, and managed to secure an agreement to assist with 50% of the school’s refurbishment costs as well as participate any of our planned initiatives for the school for 24 month.
Our plan is to begin refurbishing classroom by classroom, while at the same time attending to the exterior sections of the school. The team has already visited the school several times, participating in classes, delivering stationery, repainting sections and transforming a section of yard from what was once a dusty patch into a wonderfully green playground.
Our work there continues and the impact we’ve made so far is already something to be proud of. We hope to bring many more smiles to the faces of Dryden Street Primary School, both to the students and their incredible teachers.
